Top Secret! Original Soundtrack 1984

We thought we seen him pull it off superbly when he portrayed "Mr. Mojo Risin'" in the film "The Doors", but many years before that, Val Kilmer portrayed a singer in this comedy spoof "Top Secret!" - his first movie - who sounds like Elvis, The Beach Boys (Track 1 - Surfing Skeet) and Little Richard all wrapped up in one. I can testify that I have never seen the handsome "The Iceman", in this movie, but this short 18 or so minute soundtrack is very very funny and very very good. Val Kilmer is actually a great singer and is very credible at impersonating all 3 of the above singing legends as Nick Rivers in this comedy spoof!. So if y'all want cheered up today folks, do all yourselves a favor and grab this very rare soundtrack today. It will have you in stitches, but more than that, give y'all insight into the talent that is Val Kilmer. Enjoy alot y'all.

Valdez Il Mezzosangue Original Cast (45 RPM) 1973

Hey again. This next post is not the whole soundtrack from the spaghetti western "Valdez Il Mezzosangue" or Valdez The Halfbreed, with the late tough good guy Charles Bronson. It is only the A & B Side, but I thought it was still worth a listen y'all. The first cut "Freedom Rainbow" by Canary Jones is a very beautiful folk ballad and the B-Side "Chino" is a heady instrumental with Spanish type guitar plucking and some woodwind and strings. I hope y'all like it. It is very rare and the original vinyl for this 45 is going for $34. Thank you & good luck.

Outlaw Blues Original Soundtrack 1977

"Outlaw Blues" is a comedy-drama film from 1977 starring "Peter Fonda" and "Susan St. James", in which Bobby Ogden (Peter Fonda) an ex-convict gets ripped off for a song called "Outlaw Blues". The guy who stole his song is found dead and Fonda is a wanted man. I haven't seen this film but if it as any good as "Any Which Way..", I will probably enjoy it. The soundtrack has an excellent country, toe-tapping, sing-along to it and Peter Fonda and Susan St. James feature together on one cut. "Steven Fromholz" also does three tracks on it and that is the main reason I am posting it, because one of my most courteous readers Twil requested his two late 70's albums recently which I do not have and added them to my requests list. So I hope this goes to some way to letting you listen to some of Steven, Twil. There is some good news however Twil, I do have "Come Down To Texas 1969-91" by Steven, that contains 8, I think, cuts from 20 of those on the two albums you request. This CD was released a couple of years ago and not sure yet whether it is out of print. If it is I will post it, if not i will get you to leave your email in a seperate comment which I will not publish and get it to you.

01. Steve Fromholz - Everybody's Goin' On The Road (3:07)
02. Peter Fonda - Jailbirds Don't Fly (3:10)

Wynona Sue And The Turnpikes - Highway Of Heartache Original Soundtrack 1995

Next up, is a very rare and most excellent soundtrack album by the talented "Barbara Chamberlin" posing as "Wynona Sue And The Turnpikes" from a cult Canadian film called "Highway Of Heartache". There is a great countrified feel to the music and although I haven't seen or heard of the film, I am sure it is very good from the quality of this album. This is very rare album has been donated by our Canadian cousin uberbelly who tells me that some of his friends had a big part in the making of the film and would love to get his hands on a copy of the movie in any format please. Not a bad trade off methinks folks, especially after all the rare and FIRST posts that Jeff has donated to RARE MP3, a copy of this film would make his day. And I am pretty sure y'all, that he will make your day today with this great album. Enjoy y'all and have a root around your old VHS tapes...

Irma La Douce Original Soundtrack 1963

Now here is a charming soundtrack from the romantic comedy film "Irma La Douce", directed by 'Billy Wilder', that features 'Jack Lemmon' as a copper who does things by the book and 'Shirley MacLaine', a French harlot "Irma The Sweet". The music is by Andre Previn and is a wonderful reflection of the burlesque atmosphere that surrounds the era. Quite lovely and since it won best score also, I really recommend this for those die-hard romantics out there. And none more so, than Suzito1, one of my subscribers who requested this lost soundtrack of times gone by. Enjoy folks.

Loot Original Soundtrack 1970

Y'all probably know how much I love this guy. Who Chuntao? Well it has to be "Steve Ellis"! Who else? The music from this comedy caper "Loot", about a couple of bank robbers who stash their proceeds in their late mother's coffin, is a groovy, cool collaboration between Ellis and "Keith Mansfield". This was his first major project after his departed "Love Affair" and is a classic folks.

Stardust Original Soundtrack 1974

This next one is a great out-of-print compilation of 60's rock and pop. "Stardust Original Soundtrack" features "David Essex" and "Dave Edmunds" in a fictional band called 'The Stray Cats", and ironically the real band were later managed by Dave. There are many tracks sung by him that are very rare and do not feature on any of his many other collaborations, with 'Rockpile' or even 'Love Scultpure", which is a few years before obviously. The Dave Edmunds tracks have been published on powerpopcriminals blog, but today I am offering up the full album with 44 tracks folks. And now for the killer punch! This sweet gem is on request from Newman, a true Edmunds fan and claims that this is his ULTIMATE wish. So Newman, my loyal visitor and commentator how does this grab you? And for those die-hard romantics, y'all should grab this here FIRST. Well after Newman that is.

Barbarella Original Soundtrack 1968

This cool, jazzy soundtrack "Barbarella" was on my wishlist some time ago and stuckinthe70's was good enough to upload a copy for my pleasure. It is a favorite of mine and I have since tracked down a copy with bonus tracks (30 instead of 22) and high quality covers also. Composed by Bob Crewe & Charles Fox, this apart from being very collectible, ($200 for near mint vinyl), is a perfect composition for the extremely risque film starring Jane Fonda and the science-fiction world it was set in. I have never personally seen the film and don't really have an inkling to do so - it is in essence a male oriented movie with lots of risque undertones. The film is a cult classic however, and so is the soundtrack. So I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I do.

Blerta - The Return Trip Soundtrack 2001

This next band "Blerta", an acronym meaning "Bruno Lawrence Electric Revelation and Traveling Apparition", from New Zealand were a mad and rather talented bunch of hippies that put on theatrical and musical shows around Australasia in the early 70's. They were picked up by the networks and a documentary was made to highlight their mad-cap world. "The Return Trip" is the Soundtrack to this crazy adventure, but in essence is a compilation of their first 3 albums, which are very rare indeed. There are many tongue-in-cheek tracks, especially 10", which will keep most of the male population chortling for a while and us females dreaming. You wish. So let "Blerta" take you on a magical, trippy ride packed with fun and raw talent. This one goes out to Roddus. Your up my friend. And it was a pleasure.

Bilitis Original Soundtrack 1977

"Bilitis" is an out of print French soundtrack and is just beautiful. I picked a near mint copy the other day on vinyl for buttons and gotta share it with you. This album features excellent piano work and exquisite saxophone that y'all fall in love with, much like the main character in the erotic film. The score was composed by Francis Lai, whose other work includes "Emmanuelle" & "Love Story" is a die-hard romantic and manages to capture what love is in an instant. Sit back and chill to this heady score.
