The McElroy Brothers - Can't You See Me Smilin' 1977

"Can't You See Me Smilin'" by twins "The McElroy Brothers" is another mega-rare charming album. Only 1000 copies of this album were pressed and it is rather difficult to get you hands on them. I tried to do a trade recently on RYM for another album that I have wanted for some time, but the user had no way of ripping their vinyl. Well you can't win them all folks, but at least I can still give them one of their wishes. Right. And also tick another one from Roberts' list also. He has left comments on two other blogs since last summer, to no avail. Well, 3 tracks have been posted at strange experience blog to enjoy though. So thanks for your patience Robert P.

Howard Roberts - Antelope Freeway 1971

Here is an interesting jazz/rock road album from guitarist "Howard Roberts". "Antelope Freeway" incorporates lots of trippy outdoor sounds and psychedelic influences with a mixture of humor and artistic expression. I have also kept both sides of the album wrapped as it flows much better and would spoil the feel of each 20 minute side. I hope you like it, as I did.

VA - Boulders Volume 01-11

Well people, the Psychedelic Archeology series is flying out the window at a pretty good rate of knots, as well as the Mindrocker series, so it was worthwhile posting them here. While we are still on that sort of trip, I have one more 60's series to share with you loyal Rare MP3 Music readers. The "Boulders" Series was another vinyl series of comps first released in the early 80s' about the same time as "Pebbles" and "Back From the Grave" Although I had heard mention of this series, I had never actually seen any here so I was pleased to finally get my hands on them. As far as I am aware they have never been released on CD. So Get Em Here Folks and enjoy. Covers are included within each archive. Roddus.

Teddy Pendergrass - Teddy Pendergrass 1977

This debut self-titled album by the late R&B/Soul singer "Teddy Pendergrass" is a tribute to his life and his millions of fans. Teddy died 2 days ago (January 13 2010) at a tender age of 59 following surgery last year. He is best remembered for the track "If You Don't Know Me By Now" which he sang with "Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes". He had a hard life since 1982, after a severe car accident, that left him wheelchair ridden. But his bravery and passion for life, people and his music seen him through these obstacles and worked with many up and coming new stars including "Whitney Houston" in 1985. So may your music live on Teddy, and our love goes out to you and your family and friends...

VA - Psychedelic Archaeology Volume 01-10

Here is another great set of 60s Psychedelic compilations for your enjoyment and listening pleasure. These, as far as I can tell, have not been released commercially. They were put together by a group of collectors and Psych enthusiasts who run a Yahoo group and they wanted to focus on tracks that had never before appeared on any of the thousands of 60's Garage and Psychedelic comps that flood the market nowadays. Then they sort of let them loose out into cyberspace. They have been posted before and can also be found on torrents, but I post them here for those who have never heard of them and to assist in further dissipation around cyberspace. Also they are surprisingly good considering that the tracks have not been on any other comps, cos you would think they would be scraping the bottom of the barrel by now, I have heard some pretty awful comps, dredging up obscurities that should remain so. So if you are a 60s Psych fan and want some obscure ditties you apparently can't find any other way, except for buying the original 45's, no doubt for huge sums of cash, then get stuck in to this lot to go with the Mindrocker series you are already enjoying. All covers are included in each archive folks. Roddus

Coloured Balls - First Supper Last 1976

Well folks, I am sure y'all know that these Australian rockers don't need any introduction. But in case you don't know them, "Coloured Balls" are legendary, led by the late "Godfather of Australian Rock" Lobby Loyde, they had so much talent and flair that words fail to descibe how they actually changed a generation from its humble punk rock roots to a heavy rock ensemble. In fact, I posted another one of his rarities a while back and thought most of his stuff had been done. But to my absolute amazement, our antipodean cousin Roddus, pointed out that the link on robotsforronnie blog is broken and he can't find it anywhere. I also couldn't find this one on anyone else's blog and I am not sure whether J. Richters' Megaupload got deleted or just expired? "First Supper Last" is a stonkingly rocking album that was actually recorded in 1972, making it their first album, but was not released until 1976 after the band split in 1974. So crank this one up folks like the scene in the "Spinal Tap" movie.

Dr. Marigold's Prescription - Hello Girl 1973

Well "Hello Girl"- hello me. Hello y'all. For those of you who have just landed on planet earth and have missed out on the recent machinations of how I obtained this super dooper mega-rarity, please read comments on this UK pop/rock first album "Pictures Of Life", I posted last year. There you will learn that the nephew of "Dr. Marigold's Prescription" lead singer Fred(rick) Radley was wanting to get in touch with his uncle and a reader called 'Tin Soldier' ranted and raved about how he used to see these guys live all over London in the 70's. Then Fred the man himself dropped by and lo' and behold, I reunited him with his nephew after some 30 years and then our good ol' Tin Soldier sent me a copy of this fantastic little teaser "Hello Girl", which has been on my wishlist forever. Amazing, fantasic and totally coincidental as Fred was going to send me a copy anyway. So, it's a funny old world folks and with the power of music, not only have I reunited two family members but got the blessing to post this and without posting their first album, none of this would have happened. So apart from thanking Tin Soldier for being a hero and ripping this quality piece of work from vinyl, I would like to wish Fred & Alan all the luck in the world - it being such an auspicious time of year and all. Good on you. And thank you for your support Fred & Alan.

Anyway, what's all the fuss about Chuntao. It's only another one of your rare posts. No? Yes it is, but I have to disagree with Vernon Joynson & his team in his "Tapestry Of Delights" book about the description of this cool UK band. They are rather harsh IMO. This is a very enjoyable album with 2 very good covers, viz. "Lean On Me" & Bob Dylan's "She Belongs To Me". The best cuts on it are "Hello Girl", "Tokens" & "What The Heck". And I really like the tongue-in-cheek "Crazy Porno Love". I maybe be being biased. So, "What The Heck", I love this album and wouldn't have listened to it more than 20 times since I received it, if I couldn't hear talent. Fred has a richness to his voice that is very satisfying. I give this obscure little British pop/rock band 5 out of 5 smiles. :))))) And I hope many of you who have this on your wishlist eg "The Bomber" & nelwizard over @ PNF forum agree also. So folks, y'all know what I am gonna say and again with just cause, grab this charming addictive and honest piece of work here FIRST.

VA - Mindrocker: Anthology Of 60s US - Punk Garage Psych Volume 01-13

The Mindrocker series of 60s US-Punk Garage Psych, was started in Germany in 1981 and ultimately spawned 13 volumes. Great title and plenty of great tracks to explore within. This set is available on another blog, but is in FLAC which makes for very large files to download, and considering the origins of the music herein, it seems pointless posting them in this Format. So to save downloading time and having to convert them to MP3s here they all are in 320K MP3 format for your downloading pleasure. Enjoy. Roddus

Windy Corner - The House At Windy Corner 1973

Hey folks, here is another long overdue and very rare post and I am surprised that no-one has got round to posting it, especially after doing their "Lost Garden" album a while back. It is of course "Windy Corner", a Dutch minimal progressive folk group who recorded these tracks at a little house in Amsterdam called "Windy Corner". So why would I think that an album that had only 100 copies pressed be posted? Well apart from owning one of these hen's teeth and ripping it yourself from vinyl, the only other way of obtaining it, is to visit Last.fm and record it using your soundcard. But hey, why bother with any of that palava, yeh, when y'all can get a clean crisp copy here at 224 bitrate. And I will throw in great looking front and back covers to boot. So do yourselves all a favor and grab this lost gem here FIRST or do the work yourself at Last.fm. This is also on request from V!.
