Their stuff is rather rare and a compilation album was released in 2006. This is their only and self-titled album from 1971. In some places it was released in 1970. Enjoy this one folks.

A Roddus Music Sampler Volume 05 - Rockabilly Roddus

It's time again for another Roddus Music Sampler. Last week Chuntao posted a cool album by Evan Johns And His H-Bombs that I recommended. That version she posted was apparently the European release, which was missing a couple of the best songs off the American release that I was familiar with. As it turns out, I was thinking about doing a sort of Rockabilly influenced sampler, and I also happen to have those two tracks from Evan Johns, which are just the ticket for this sampler, so here it is the "Rockabilly Roddus" Music Sampler. Although not all tracks are strictly rockabilly, they fit just the same. Enjoy.

Amen Corner - The Return Of The Magnificent Seven 1976

"Amen Corner" were a UK pop band that released a couple of albums until they parted in 1969. The band included "Andy Fairweather Low", best known for his later work with 'Eric Clapton' and 'Roger Waters'. This album "Return Of The Magnificent Seven" is a very rare album that was released much later after their split, in 1976 on Immediate Records., after leaving Decca and contains some unreleased live tracks. Nick Lowe And His Cowboy Outfit - The Rose Of England 1985

Time again for one of my favorite artists and one of the most talented. From his days in "Brinsley Schwarz", to "Rockpile" and even his solo work, he never runs out of ideas for songwriting. There are a few who have requested either this album or more albums from 'Basher' "Jesus Of Cool". So a big up for Newman, Tulloch, Tommy C, Broshoe & Nate who have all wanted more of Old Nick. This time he is rocking 'n' rolling with his 'Cowboy Outfit' and delivering us "The Rose Of England" from 1985. Lap it up folks.

VA - El Pea 1971

The title of this next one "El Pea" is a very funny take on the acronym "LP" meaning Long-Player. This is the last Sampler released on Island Records in 1971 and this is on request from Howie from Bromborough, Merseyside UK. I have deliberately omitted the first track "Empty Pages" by "Traffic". I posted their album "Mr Fantasy" when I first started blogging and not only was the post deleted, I got a DCMA notice also. So it is prudent not to include them here, even if it is only one track folks. But for your interests, this track can be found on their "John Barleycorn Must Die" album. By doing this, there is a higher chance that this post won't be deleted or worse. I'm sure y'all understand. Good Luck and enjoy the rest of these super tracks.

Painter - Painter 1973

Somehow Canada seem to be the country of the moment, and I won't disappoint y'all with this fine Albertan rock band "Painter", that were spawned out the flagging 60's band "49th Parallel". This is their only and self-titled album, but later changed their name to "Hammersmith" producing two albums, that are also rather rare. This is on request from flinthill. Good choice. VA - Rarest Of The Rare Volume 12

It's that time again folks for another one from this classic series. Nearly there with them all, and when I am finished Roddus is going to bring us one of the most rarest series next. I won't say too much at this time, but if you were to buy the whole collection, it would cost around $800 and a full day to listen to them. Can't wait. Anyway, here is Volume 12 from the "Rarest Of The Rare" set and I would like to give a big shout out to "joe from the usa" who has really been appreciating this special collection. And for the rest of you - enjoy also.

VA - Feel Lucky Punk 1992

Hi Music lovers, after posting the "Roots Of Roddus" Music Sampler, it seems an appropriate time to post this rarity that I found back in the very early 90's. It appears to be some sort of bootleg compilation, of late 70s/early 80s Australian and American Raw Punk. This has become one of my all time favorite Punk comps and the two best, most raw tracks being "Mad - I Hate Music" and "Freestone - Bummerbitch". I have never seen it on CD, and about 12 years ago I paid lots of money to have it transfered to CD by a professional recording studio, who thought some of the music was hilarious. So as I said, this music is raw and not for the faint hearted. And again, thanks to Chuntao for posting this, which is not the usual sort of stuff that is posted here. So folks get this SUPER RARITY here FIRST and enjoy.

Loot Original Soundtrack 1970

Y'all probably know how much I love this guy. Who Chuntao? Well it has to be "Steve Ellis"! Who else? The music from this comedy caper "Loot", about a couple of bank robbers who stash their proceeds in their late mother's coffin, is a groovy, cool collaboration between Ellis and "Keith Mansfield". This was his first major project after his departed "Love Affair" and is a classic folks. Get this beauty here FIRST folks.

Evan Johns & His H-Bombs - Rolling Through The Night 1986

Guitar supremo "Evan Johns" has been affiliated with many bands, from "The LeRoi Brothers" and "Eugene Chadbourne". He formed 'The H-Bombs' in the seventies, releasing "Rolling Through The Night" in 1986. It was re-released in 1997. If you haven't heard him before, his stuff is very cool; a little bit crazy in places, but very worthwhile. This guy is on recommendation from Roddus, who thought it would suit RARE MP3 down to the ground. Don't read in to that too much folks, eh.

Stardust Original Soundtrack 1974

This next one is a great out-of-print compilation of 60's rock and pop. "Stardust Original Soundtrack" features "David Essex" and "Dave Edmunds" in a fictional band called 'The Stray Cats", and ironically the real band were later managed by Dave. There are many tracks sung by him that are very rare and do not feature on any of his many other collaborations, with 'Rockpile' or even 'Love Scultpure", which is a few years before obviously. The Dave Edmunds tracks have been published on powerpopcriminals blog, but today I am offering up the full album with 44 tracks folks. And now for the killer punch! This sweet gem is on request from Newman, a true Edmunds fan and claims that this is his ULTIMATE wish. So Newman, my loyal visitor and commentator how does this grab you? These guys started off by truncating their name, then lengthened it to an epic title, longer than The Canadian Rockies. But we know them as "Mainline", yeh. A Roddus Music Sampler Volume 04 - The Roots Of Roddus

Hi Folks, Roddus here again. The other day I was thinking about another playlist and I started to remember the sort of music that first blew me away when I was entering my teenage years. When I was 12, my Nana gave me one of those new transistor radios (remember, one of those little radios not much bigger than a cigarette packet). Anyhow, I use to put it next to my pillow at night as I was trying to go to sleep and tuned it to one of the only two or three radio stations we had avaliable here back then. Now although this was a Commercial AM station, after about 10pm they closed the local broadcast and piped a transmission from up north which played all night alternative sounds. The presenter called himself Dr Rock, I think, and the sounds that he played floored me totally, I heard stuff i would never have heard on daytime radio and it set my musical tastes for many years to come. A lot of the tracks also were not avaliable on local release and the combination of it being late at night and the exotic nature (to me) of the music was very exciting. The first part of this Sampler are some of the tracks I will never forget hearing for the first time on that radio show. The second half are tracks from around the same time but heard from other sources. So here it is folks "The Roots Of Roddus" Music sampler. Enjoy.

James Dewar - Stumbledown Romancer 1970

Now it's time for a very, and I mean very rare, and also one of the most beautiful rock albums I have heard in a while. I think this album might top some of my posts. On request from STUMPYBOB folks, "Stumbledown Dancer" was the only solo album by the late soulful Scottish musician and bassist "James Dewar" of "Robin Trower Band" fame, and recorded this album throughout the 70's, but was not released till the mid-90's. Opening up with a strong rendition of "Out Of Time" and later with an exquisite and the joyful "Hosanna", this album will make you feel uplifted and wanting more. Well just put it on repeat. Well just put it on REPEAT. I don't need to say that again, do I? So do the right thing and grab this album of a lifetime here FIRST folks. I wouldn't be sharing this if I didn't think it was worth at least 20 listens. And STUMPYBOB, good on ya' for requesting a cracking album. I seem to get the best requests at RARE MP3!

VA - What A Way To Die - 15 Forgotten Losers Of The Mid 60's

Don't be put off by the title folks. This has to be one of the best garage compilations I have heard in a long time. It includes Suzi Quatro's first band "The Pleasure Seekers", who have to be one of the most provocative bands of the era and many more gems that words fail to describe them. This classic is on special request from Roddus and I think I was getting ahead of myself, because there are only 15 tracks not 16 folks. Really enjoy this. FYI, one blogger has posted this about two years ago and their blog has been deleted. Hope it was nothing to do with this beauty. Touch wood.

Freedom North - Freedom North 1970

Canadian, oh not again the rest of the world are saying, jazzy psych pop/rock group "Freedom North" only did one album and this is it. Again I am unable to find out much info on these guys and doll, but one member came from another 60's group called "Carnival Connection". The female vocals are beautiful and the arrangements are well crafted, but for me they lacked that punch which RARE MP3 is known for. This has been on request for a while now from Jimmy. I would say they are worth a listen, especially for their rarity value. You can still hear remnants of the 60's in here and also the beginning of that early 70's rock edge. But, like I say, this is a lovely album, but is stuck between two decades. Maybe I am wrong, you good folks decide and at least sample it here FIRST.

Henry Priestman - The Chronicles Of Modern Life 2008

I was watching Breakfast TV last week and ex-The Christians guy "Henry Priestman" appeared on the show. I was totally captivated with a short intro of his new solo track, that I had to get this album. Easy-peasy. I queued up 3 downloads (one being a torrent) and started listening to them one by one as I got them. Well, I was very impressed with this guy. This album has a post-punk protest folk appeal about it. The songs are all well-written, political in part, and some are tongue-in-cheek, but all have a moral point to make. Released last year, "The Chronicles Of Modern Life" was released on 'Stiff Records' and Our Henry is the oldest person to be signed by this cult record label. So sit back and enjoy what is somewhat of a rarity folks, as this album is fetching $75 in places. So if you wanna hear a real hidden gem folks get this here FIRST or a torrent site if you desire.

The Magic Lanterns - Shame Shame 1968-71

I got a request in a while ago for this UK rock pop group "The Magic Lanterns" from the 60's. I collected around half a dozen tracks and noticed that a fellow blogger had posted this same same album. The same blogger who trolled my "Beat Treasures" collection I posted FIRST recently - "Shame Shame" on them. Anyway, this one is a different copy as it contains 24 tracks instead of their 18 tracks. So I will just go ahead and post it. There was speculation for a while in the collector's circles that "Ozzy Osbourne" started out in this cool group, but it is a pure myth.
