VA - Burning Ambitions: A History Of Punk 1984

As I have mentioned in the past, my formative music years were during the second wave of punk and most of what I listened to back then was punk or new wave. When I first saw a copy of "Burning Ambitions: A History of Punk" I absolutely knew I had to have a copy, and I was soon able to purchase a copy for my listning pleasure. And what pleasure it was, this double album become an almost permanent fixture on my turntable. The hardcore stuff on the second platter, I was already familiar with, but the earlier stuff from the late 70s was a revelation. This Comp was reissued later on CD as a 3 disc set, with most of the original on the first disc, but with some tracks missing and not on the other CD's it wasn't the same. Between Chuntao and I, we have managed to cobble together the original 2 record track listing and here it is for your listening pleasure. The Adam and the Ants track "Lady", is only the Demo version as I cannot find the actual version, it is very rare. If anyone has it I would love to get my hands on it. Roddus.

Don't know if someone's already beaten me to it, but here's "Lady", ripped from my own vinyl copy of "Burning Ambitions":

Superb album - my first introduction to British Punk, and probably still my favourite compilation

Exellent rip Gumby, thanks for that.
It really is a strange little song, I remember being quite facinated with this one when i was so young and impressionable and inexperienced with naked women(hehe).

C. I wounder if you could post gumby's link for you readers to also download to complete the burning ambitions post.

I still have my vinyl copy of this. I was gonna post it over at our site(eventually) But you have made it so much easier for me. So thank you very much for this gem

I got this on vinyl the year it came out - such a perfect introduction to the punk scene. Such a shame the CD reissue wasn't expanded to a double disc to include all the tracks (adding insult to injury, the CD version of this I did buy before it went out of print - skipped!). Great blog!

A little correction to the post...

I bought this LP the year it came out ( I was twelve years old at that time :p )

It's not from 1984 but 1982.

Great album! It's one of those I like to listen over and over!
