The late US singer/songwriter "Terry Melcher" was the son of the legendary "Doris Day" and composed the lovely song "Move Over Darling", which Doris sang in the movie "My Favorite Wife". He has also worked with some of the best names in the business, including '"Bruce Johnston" of "The Beach Boys", "Ry cooder" and "The Byrds". He also did two solo albums himself and this is his rare self-titled debut from 1974. It is a lovely album, where we get to hear this champions' more softer side, rather than the traditional surf and rock interests. I hope y'all enjoy this unsung heroes work folks.

the attentive listener will even find some of Terry's Krazy Karmic Konnektion to Charlie Manson in one of the songs; it surely didnt help his mental state the remainder of his beleaguered life
He worked with Bruce Johnston, as well.
Attentive listeners should also be able to hear Melcher's Mom on one track dueting with her 'bad boy'. In fact, the credits are what impressed me the most about this LP. Also not mentioned are Melcher's PRIMARY(IMHO) record production credits at the board behind the very LARGE commercial success of Paul Revere & The Raiders, where Ry Cooder spent many anonymous sessions doing support guitar work. Melcher's hand in creating the Raider's sound is nothing short of phenomenal in my book. Paul Revere and the Raiders are the unsung and under-appreciated heroes of Columbia Records 1960s climb to the top of the commercial labels' heap.
In my 27 years in Retail Records, new and used, I never EVER saw a stock copy of this LP. Both of mine were promos. I wonder if it actually ever got pressed up, which was NOT an uncommon fate suffered by known stiffs-to-be be tax write-off conscious record company bean counters. One James Taylor at W-E-A (Warner-Elektra-Atlantic) was worth fifty failed (and someday collectable) Terry Melcher record launches. This LP was a 'hard' listen at best when I was in my twenties. I wonder how it will fare thirty years down th eline. Stay tuned.

How can I respond to your very knowledgeable account of this artist and album. I won't bother as I don't want to appear silly. You certainly know your stuff Duncan and I thank you for your unique insight into a troubled but very talented artist . Many thanks D.

Thanks for the posting, bro! Any chance you could supplement the posting with a list of the [;ayers on the LP? It's been so long for this old fart to remember them all.
Did you get my inquiry about Tom Jans? If so, thanks
Thank you very much for your hard work
