He was not just an amazing talent, but peace-loving, jazz composer "Sun Ra" gave his famous brand of music, accompanied by his "Arkestra" for decades, to millions of dedicated hippies and jazz enthusiasts alike. He was almost 80 years old when he sadly moved on in 1993 and will be sorely missed for his philosophy and ability to choreograph live concerts. So I offer up a very rare concert "Live At Montreux" from 1978, ripped from vinyl for all your pleasure folks. You all know you want it. Well, I know Roddus wants it, this being on request and all. So grab this historic masterpiece here folks. I also like to draw to your attention that Roddus has upped his own sampler of great rare New Zealand bands. Hope y'all find it to your liking. I like it. So i know a lot of you will. Go on give it a try. And positive feedback on this might get him to set up his own music blog.

COOOOL, Thanks for forfulling this wonderful request ,again u spoil me.
Its wet today so i'm in the office doing bookwork with this album blasting out of the computer speakers.
What a cacophany of noise, Ra can be difficult to listen to but this is one of his better messes, free jazz can be daunting and even I struggle with a lot of what i have heard over the years. It is the tracks where Ra lets loose on the piano that appeal to me the most on this album, been so long since I heard it. I need to re aquaint meself with this on My headphones.
I find Sun Ra's earlier recording from the 50s when He was swinging with the arkestra the most approachable and enjoyable of his music.
Thanks for this well done.
Roddus
G'day Roddus,
Well you got what you wanted. Sun Ra can be a racket sometimes and is a very eclectic sound. One for the listener who maybe wants to cure their tinnitus. Sorry that is harsh. There are some good moments but it was difficulkt to listen to I found even though I haven'y heard much of his earlier stuff. Most hippies love all his 60's stuff. But what do I know. Iam just a philistine. Yes he has talent but sometimes it's musings, ramblings I don't know. Yes it's a masterpiece but it lacks direction.
Anyway I'm happy you are happy to have a copy of a lost record.
Well done

Thank you. A big part of Sun Ra and the Arkestra was the energy of the live performance. I was grateful to see Ra and the group perform live on two occasions, and there was nothing to compare it with (they even had fire-eaters, someone playing an 8' or 9' tall drum with antlers, etc.), as it was an amazing sensory experience. That doesn't always translate to an audio recording, although the energy certainly comes through, and it's great that you were kind enough to be this generous here.
