Honeybus - She Flies Like A Bird : The Anthology 2002

Baroque 60's pop band "Honeybus" are a very rare find and a very rare treat indeed. They have been compared to "The Beatles" and even though they never had their acclaim, "Honeybus" were truly fab man. They had a couple of hits eg "I Won't Let Maggie Go" and "She Sold Blackpool Rock", but unfortuneately never really climbed back to where they should have been. It's a great shame, as this double album is a must for any collector as it contains many unreleased songs and excellent material live on the BBC on Disc 2. So lap this special collection up. You are going to love it as much as I did sharing it.

Honeybus is pre Who

I got it, so can merely wish others the great discovery they may make, depending on age/taste; just topnotch guitars, vocals, the great songwriting, hook-factor, classical embellishments to tweak emotions, wierdness, etc...solid! 'Do I Figure In Your Life', yes the Cocker 1st album treat, was by Pete Dello, lovesongs a specialty

Letting anyone know that Colin Hare & Dello from this group released super solo stuff post-, also.

I tried and I tried but I can't get mega opened. No big matter, I got disc 1 just fine.
Having liked the band for years, I think "ge" puts it well why they were great.

Bletsk (love these word-verifs!), Leo.

Leo,

How r u? I got your other message and read the other message. FAB 1 ;] u r mad u know that lol

Anyway I am sorry you are unable to open this second archive on MU . I downloaded there and have just extracting using 7-zip and it is fine. When I have problems with winrar i always use that and it is an excellent little program.

Remember Leo I only the BBC Purple Chick on my blog even though I have many more, there fore to whom you mention and the comments left I am not sure whether it was Purple Chick BBC discs they were looking for. I haven't read it in full, but I think that one of the archive the writer mentions is corrupt not sure. But if they want me to find something well that is my job.

Drop my soon

Chuntyao

PS I found some Lemon Pipers and The archies who are not even a resal band, formed for a televison cartoon. So let me check out the best of this silly pop and get back to you.

You do that u r mad Leo, but we love you :))))

furyanimal,
Honeybus is not pre Who, the Who have been around as the Who since 1965, as the High Numbers & the Detours even further back... But that's not why I'm here... just listened to the BBC stuff by this band and I'm very impressed... Very nice late 60's british pop/rock... Thanks again C

Newman,

Thanks for sorting out the Who debate. It saves me some time even though I gave link to wiki for more info in post. I wasnt going to go into the whole debate with him about the origin of the band.

Anyway very glad you enjoyed the Bus my man. I loved it as well. Alot of tracks also. The BBC is especially good.

Speak soon Newman.

C.

by the way you never had trouble with the MU link. I didnt but somehow Leo has had probs?

Appendix for your eyes only: FAB1 asked specifically for disc 11;

I suspect megaupload has become blocked at the library, a law called ipred was recently passed in my country. RS works fine still (knock on wood) and I found a Lemon Pipers 15track Best Of, hope you like them 'cause I want more;

I may be mad but I spell better than you ;)

Love, Leo

I've never had any problems w/ the Mega Upload at all, in fact I think I prefer MU

Thanks Newman for getting back and clearing that up. I am slowly changing across to MU I think. Would you know how often it updates it downloads. Coz as yet I have seen zero downloads and Part 1 is being d/l'ed something chronic.

Speak soon N.

Ho hum, maybe MU was away for its facelift that day 'cause I just dl'd Bus pt 2, it flew in like a bird no prob. Which means I can get Roddus' sampler too, good.

Archies... now that's silly. Have you heard the mash-up by Mark Vidler? Velvet Sugar... great!

La la Leo

I have to agree with you there,

Blogger is set up for US spellings and I need to drop the letter 'u' in many words sometimes etc. And there is no excuse for other typos. My long fingernails seem to mispress the buttons sometimes ;]

And mispress isn't even a word either Leo hehe

What a find, I thought that Honeybus was just a one-off pop band with no substance. I was pleasantly surprised when I played this as there is more to them than I Can't Let Maggie Go. Some edgy rock/pop tracks and some really nice toons. What I can't fathom out is why didn't they keep up after their first 2 hits. There is certainly hit material included her. A nice album

Thanks for this..superb band and deserved to be remembered for more than one hit.....thanks for sharing much appreciated...cheers.
