Ellis - Riding On The Crest Of A Slump 1972

Hello, I got a recommendation in from from Roddus from New Zealand, who suggested I check out this next band. I have seen him recently make very decent comments on other blogs or asking for certain albums to be made available. But no-one seems to be take heed, as he is a very knowledgeable man. Therefore i'm glad he stopped by here, coz it's about giving the readers what they want. Right.

"Riding On The Crest Of A Wave" by 70's rock band (Steve ex- 'Love Affair') "Ellis" is an album produced by Roger Daltrey and featuring 'Zoot Money' on piano and vocals and also featuring Maggie Bell. The album has a country rock feel with many blues influences. The lyrics are beautiful and flows very sweetly. So thanks Roddus for the heads up. A very charming album indeed. Enjoy folks.

Thank you for your comments, Suprised me to see this here so quickley, well done.It is so forunate that many Record lables are re-releasing this old stuff.
I had looked for years for the re-release of this on CD and was very pleased to finally to be able to get it from Amazon last year.
Other favs from this long ago time worth checking out would be Fusion's "Boarder town",Stray's "Mudanzas" and "Satursay Morning Pictures" and one of my all time favs Audience's "House On The Hill.

Cheers
Roddus

P.S I Left A comment on your Airlord Page but you haven't posted it. I was wondering if you got it or not?

Chris,

Have removed favicons from sidebar. Didn't realise that it was giving users trouble. Probably better on Firefox. FYI, it isn't pop-ups, only shortcuts.

Anyway have removed them so page will load much faster now.
Thank you for your input in this matter.

If you like this check out Steve Ellis in another band, with Luther Grosvenor (aka Ariel Bender, ex-Mott The Hoople) and Hugh Loyd Langton (ex-Hawkwind). WIDOWMAKER opened for The Who on 'The Who Put The Boot In' at Charlton, Rangers and Swansea football grounds during 1976. A double CD also included a Radio One 'In Concert' by the band. The booklet is also very informative.

Hey leo,
Yep THIS SURE IS A GOOD UN

I originally found this album on vinyl in a second hand book & record shop some time round 1990. I brought it on the strength of the dirty looking hippies on the front cover, cos I was checking out that type of music then and it quickly grew to be one of my favorites of that era, a forgotten classic. me a mate use to listen to it a lot every thursday at my flat while playing darts and getting stoned, days now long past.

From 'Mornng Paper' you can tell that Steve Ellis has not still got that voice, the power vocals on 'Angela' will tell you this man is one of the great unsung rock volcalist of ALL TIME.Thanks.
