Scorpion - Scorpion 1969

Well hello again folks. I hope y'all have recovered from overindulging this Christmas and are ready to get back to listening more rare music. I can tell I have at least. I thought it would be prudent to take a few days off, to let most of spend some quality time with friends & family. Now it is time to get more quality music with your favorite blogger.

So up next is the sole self-titled debut album by US hard rock band "Scorpion". This album appears on robotsforronnie's wishlist and as I have a few more of his albums, it seems I will be giving him the chance to post more himself, due to the kindness of some of his readers who have gathered a fair few for him. I have enjoyed helping him out this year and have learnt a lot also. Therefore enjoy this cool obscurity and you will find his link to more excellent & rare music on my link list.

Paul Collins' Beat - The Beat 1979

"The Beat" was the debut album by power pop band "Paul Collins' Beat" or sometimes called "The Beat" is in a word awesome. Every track on this album is quality. And don't be fooled coz it says power pop. It totally rocks folks. This is on request for Stymie for some time now. I tell you this wasn't an easy find either. Happy festivities in Indiana my friend.

Lobby Loyde - Plays With George Guitar 1971

Legendary Australian rock guitarist 'Lobby Loyde' of "Coloured Balls" fame released this debut album in 1971, while "Coloured Balls" released their debut in 1973. Sweet Toothe - Testing 1975 (US South Blues)

This sole album by West Virginian band "Sweet Toothe" is an eclectic mix of rock, blues and psychedelia. Their songs are slow and deliberate, with some fine fuzz guitar and some interesting tongue-in-cheek lyrics. It is certainly worth a listen, but I feel it lacks a certain punch. Still grab it here FIRST folks and let me know what you think. Now posted on bluescentar.blogspot.com 31 Jan' 09. (with same link).

Dirk Steffens - The Seventh Step 1976

"The Seventh Step" is the first solo contribution by "Dirk Steffens", the former guitarist of the band "Birth Control". There are some excellent hard rock songs here and a fair amount amount of sweet electric solos to keep most of you hooked. Only 1500 copies of this CD was re-released back in 1995 and is therefore most rare indeed. Dirk also produced second album "I'm A Rebel" by heavy metal band "Accept" back in 1979.

The Adventures of Robert Savage - Vol. 1 1971

"The Adventures of Robert Savage" is a very obscure psychedelic rock band from the 70's that hailed from Californ-i-a. There is a lot of heavy fuzz guitar here, excellent riffs and far-out solos, that this guy was obviously heavily influenced by the great Jimi Hendrix. Why not ? It's quality all the way man. Grab it here folks. Another FIRST methinks.

Part 1 Part 2

Lenny Bruce - The Berkeley Concert 1965

"Lenny Bruce" was a great American comedian & satirist, whose brand of comedy was very deep and insightful. I would say that he was a cleaner version of Bill Hicks, not to say that his ramblings didn't contain adult humor, they did. But he wasn't as vociferous as Bill. 'The Berkeley Concert' was recorded live on December 12, 1965 at Berkeley Community Theatre, California, less than a year before he passed on. And was released on CD in 1989. This little piece of social history is on request from Stymie in Indiana. I hope this helps imparts some useful knowledge over xmas bud. Enjoy.

Brahman - Brahman 1971

My next early xmas present, but not my last, is for J Richter. This sole self-titled album by obscure Canadian progressive rock band "Brahman" is another hard to find album, which I have tracked down for him off his wishlist. The music on this album has a very good flow to it, demonstrating sound songwriting and catchy riffs. They mix it up with unusual patterns, but then after clinging on to it, they bring it back to reality with a strange naive flair. Get this here again for the FIRST time in ages.
