Bilitis Original Soundtrack 1977

"Bilitis" is an out of print French soundtrack and is just beautiful. I picked a near mint copy the other day on vinyl for buttons and gotta share it with you. This album features excellent piano work and exquisite saxophone that y'all fall in love with, much like the main character in the erotic film. The score was composed by Francis Lai, whose other work includes "Emmanuelle" & "Love Story" is a die-hard romantic and manages to capture what love is in an instant. Sit back and chill to this heady score.

Bob Catley - Legends 2000

Here is my second installment from natural rocker Bob Catley, formerly of "Magnum" ilk. "Legends" is another excellent album showing this supremo's prowess and flair. Some of the transitions are absolutely flawless with precision timing. And again this one goes out to Jan who has had it on his wishlist for a while. I've thrown in a rare autographed album cover of "Middle Earth" for your enjoyment also. Rock on folks. Rock on.

VA - Greasy Truckers Party 1972

Well, well, well. What have we got here. Uch just another rarity I hear y'all say. Just another rarity. Yup sure is. But this is no ordinary rarity. Up until last year "Greasy Truckers Party" was a deleted album. Then they decided to release a special 3 CD set of this fine live concert recorded at the 'Roundhouse' London in February 1972 to help raise money for worthwhile causes. The concert itself was a bit of a farce and included an impromtu track called "Power Cut" because of an abundance of power outages. Unfortunately, I have not managed to include this track here, but after y'all hear the epic and orgasmic 21 minute "Spunk Rock" track by "Man", I know you won't be disappointed. I have split the archive in two parts so that I could keep the bit-rate high. FYI, I also have the ultra rare 3 disc set in FLAC format.

Jadis - More Than Meets The Eye 1992

Next up is another rare UK band Jadis. I am currently working on their deleted album "Backbeat", but seems to be eluding me at the moment. I have a copy of "Photoplay" which I will probably post if there is a postiive response to this album. Anyway, "More Than Meets The Eye" is a pleasant mix of neo-progressive rock and excellent guitar work. A special edition has been released on CD, but this i'm afraid is the original with 7 medium to long tracks on it.

Chyld - Conception 1988

"Conception" by 80's hard rock band "Chyld" is a very rare and deleted album. There is a cult following for this US band that hailed from Pennsylvania and this is their only album on New Renaissance Records from 1988. This is a very underrated band and the album is just excellent. I really like the tongue-in-cheek cover. Grab this piece of rock history here FIRST.

Yngwie Malmsteen - The Real Viking (Rares)

Up next is a rare album from Swedish guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen. "The Real Viking" includes tracks from his B-sides and a few are dedicated to Queen and Deep Purple. So who is the greatest guitarist of all time ? Slash, Hendrix or Yngwie ? Hard to say, so I'll let y'all decide for yourselves. I have to apologize for the size of the cover, but due to the rareness of this album, I couldn't quite get one to my liking.

Dracula 2000 Original Soundtrack

There seems to be a bit of a cult following for the next movie and its' soundtrack. Dracula has been made so many times, that we never seem to get tired of remakes. And hey, why not ? Classics always hang about like bats forever and this soundtrack from "Dracula 2000" certainly does that. (In some countries it's also known as "Dracula 2001". The tracks on this album are more modern reflecting the genre that it was aimed at . We have such offerings as thrash metal band "Slayer", whose album "Christ Illusion" from 2006 was just sheer indulgence, and I probably think their fingers are still bleeding from the whole experience. I'm salivating right now. Crazy rockers "System Of A Down" also feature on this soundtrack along with "Linkin Park". So if you like me, want to be stirred and literally impaled with an electric guitar through the chest, then this album is deafening-ately for you.

The Beatles - Complete BBC Sessions 1-10 (Bootlegs) (Purple Chick)

Hey again folks. Up next one of the most bootlegged bands in the world and deservedly so. Because they are the greatest rock 'n' roll band in the world. These are the "Complete BBC Recordings" put together by Purple Chick in 2004. These discs are not for resell and come complete with high quality artwork. The sound quality is superb and there are absolutely hours of fun. The way the band banters with the radio presenter is just so natural and this 10 disc collection is a must for all collector's. I have included an amazingly hi-res collage myself below using Picasa 3 (beta), which I think is rather cool, but not as cool as the music. This post has been 'A Hard Day's Night' and comments are always appreciated. Thank you.

VA - Every Which Way But Loose Soundtrack 1979

I said last week that I would post my favorite soundtrack and now here it is. "The Wraith" and "Easy Rider" are two of my favorites but "Every Which Way But Loose" has to my best favorite. A lot of my favorite films actually have Clint Eastwood in them eg. "Kelly's Hero's" and "Where Eagles Dare", but he is not my all time favorite actor. However, he is up there in the top 3.

Anyway, I thought this soundtrack would follow on nicely from the Bluegrass feel. This album is more Country than Bluegrass, but nevertheless I still feel it has its place here. "Every Which Way But Loose" is actually an out of print album and pretty rare. It is rich and vibrant in texture and a lot of the lyrics are tongue-in-cheek. Normally country songs are all about how your dog and wife left you etc, but the tracks here reflect a sense of optimism and I also like the fact that Sondra Locke is featured here twice, whom Clint went on to marry. Download it here and see if y'all agree. Right turn Clyde.

Pickin' On Pink Floyd - A Bluegrass Tribute 2001

"Pickin' On Pink Floyd" is a unique and fantastic insight on how music, from even one of the greatest bands in the world, can be slightly tweaked and cross over in to another genre and still sound unique. And that's exactly what this album does. It crosses the musical divide and is a joyful display of sheer passion and faultless flair. Some people might say that they are poking fun at PF, but even though that may be true to one extent, there is no mistaking that this whole album is an homage to them. When you download this album, I suggest you listen to it twice. The first time because you want to be inspired by the Bluegrass sound and bravado ,and then, and only then, listen to it a second time for the Pink Floyd nuances. That way you will appreciate the music for what it is. Sheer brilliance.

Parliament - Osmium 1970

"Osmium" was the first album by funk band "Parliament" and led by George Clinton. I listened to this album twice before I decided to write anything, because I hadn't heard them before and was real taken by them. The album is very funny, with catchy lyrics and sweet harmonies. I especially like the track "My Automobile" for its gusto and improv, and I'm pretty sure that in a few of the numbers I can hear James Brown in there. Did I say James Brown ? I sure did. And to top it off, there is an amazing smattering of "Over The Sea To Skye" in "The Silent Boatman" track. Lovely. This is a very under rated band and I thank my fellow blogger Jan for bringing them to my attention. They are real cool and natural.

This hard to find album from "The Beach Boys" from 1961, brings the freshness of their popular, catchy sing-along rock-n-roll sound, with the flavor of summer and the expectation of meeting that special someone. I love this band something terrible; when your down you can switch them on and when the weather is dismal you can just tune in and imagine yourself at Pacific Beach, maybe catching a few tubes or sipping on cocktails. Donovan - Neutronica 1980

"Neutronica" by Scottish folk/rock singer "Donovan" Leitch is a beautiful display of not just his sublime acoustic guitar playing, but a wonderful extension of this iconic figures' songwriting ability. This album is chiefly a politically motivated one, with such breathtaking songs as "Heights Of Alma" and "Universal Soldier" and "Split Wood Not Atoms", which not only convey his political standpoint on war and famine, but cements feelings of mankinds' own destruction. Once a hippy always a hippy, I guess. But all true. So let him take you on a magical trip where peace and love abound.
