Ronnie Wood - Slide On This 1992

"Slide On This" is the fifth studio album by Rolling Stone "Ronnie Wood" from 1992. It's global sales were very poor at the time, therefore making it pretty rare. I am very surprised about this albums history, because it not only shows sound writing, but an excellent demonstration of his singing ability also. This post is for loopy who left a request at hitmewitit. Tune in dude. Please remember to support the artists ! If the music is out of print, or that rare you have to remortgage, then go to one of their concerts, or buy some other form of memorabilia.

Yo' Talleyrand,

How's trix? Thanx for dropping by. Glad you enjoyed the Ron Wood album.

And don't worry I am slowly working on your request. It's much harder than I thought, even though I knew it was rare one. Quite a challenge. Will be able to give you an update hopefully before Xmas. Hang in there I haven't forgotten about you dude.

Drop by soon my man

Well I really think this album has sort of passed me by. what I mean by that is that, while it is definitely a good piece of work by any estimation, I just don't get much out of the listening experience.
(probably an immaturity on my part)
Hehe.
It just reminded me of that kind of US rock music you hear on 80's movies, horror movies or those crappy American comedy films...hehe.
I was a latecomer to The Stones too and eventually I decided I only really like their earlier music, the stuff you could describe as a bit cajun, if you know what I mean. The real basic bluesy-rock stuff but as for their hits, well...
It's horses for courses, can't like 'em all eh.
Still a great blog mate, keep 'em coming :)

Hi again hitmewitit,

Tx again for hanging out. Cool. I agree with you to a certain extent. Even though you can easily listen to it and Ronnie Wood can sing, right. It isn't The Stones. I mean it's still a good album - worth a listen, but don't know whether I would buy it. As for cheesy blues-rock you mention, you probably won't like The Ozarks I posted recently either. They are rather cool also.

But it's true what you say after you've heard as much music as we have :] a l o t -it gets harder to appreciate all of them.

Anyway thanx for letting me track it down m8. That's the fun part - helping others.

Speak soon

It's a fine album, but you're no friend to him. Why wouldn't you download it from Ronnie's site, and pay him instead of steal from him?

Hello Ian McLagan,

Well if you are the 'IAN MCLAGAN', I think you are, thank you for gracing my humble site with your presence. This is the 3rd time you have visited. And tell me how is The Philipines these days?

Ladies & Gentleman, we have received a comment from a music icon. He purports to be the great Ian 'Mac' McLagan of 'The Small Faces' - A friend of Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones'.

Before I answer your question Ian, why do you post from the www.macpages.com? Coz the site you name links to is just a fan site owned by someone in England my man & as far as I know Ian lives in Austin, Texas. Not the Philippines.
And if happen to be on holiday thanks for taking your time out 3 times to visit my music blog.

Anyway to answer your question. This site is dedicated to tracking down lost music that either most people don't know exists. I am helping to promote the artists featured here & in no way undermine their work by stealing anything. I am merely highlighting good music that is available if they want to buy it. Try before you buy. And as most of the music here is very rare would you pay $80 for an album before you thought it was any good. ell you probably would, coz if you say who you are money is no object yeh. But most people are only tempted to buy when they are happy with the product. Therefore to answer your question we are not sttealing anything from artisits esppecially if readers don't know this rare music exists. We are helping to promote the artists - especially Ron.

Good Luck

Chuntao
Ronnie, wishes to have this post removed, then tell him to complain to his music company who will then notify Google/Blogger & this offending post will be removed.

Goodbye & I will write to the website owner to check the validity of your real name .

Philipines? I'm in Austin, OK? You are defrauding him and doubting my authenticity. I run macspages.com personally. Go and look now bootlegger. You see I've got nothing to hide, only you have.

Ian,

Thanx for getting back to me. I apologize in saying that you are from Philipines, I double-checked my users & sure you hail from Texas. I must have mixed up my findings as someone else was making or reading comments of the same post at the same time.

I wasn't being facetious about your real identity. I was merely trying to fathom out why someone in England runs your site, while you live in your manor in US. That's all. And obviously, you have help from someone.

Well, now we can be certain of your real identity Ian, I'm very sorry the one album that offends you. The album in question only sold 58,000 copies in the US, and 21,000 in Japan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slide_On_This). This makes it very rare and very desirable to collector's of rare music. It doesn't make it a bad album, far from it, just a highly sought after piece of work. Many people probably don't know of its existence unless you point it out to them and dangle the carrot by offering it as a free download.

I am not stealing anything, as my interest in this rarity may help others to go & buy it, who may not have shown any interest in it in the first place, as they were unaware of its existence. I do not make any money for sharing great music with the world. I therefore am pointing people in the right direction & without my knowledge, may be making Ron money by this process.

But I feel Ian that your anger isn't on seeing this one hard to album. Your anger is targeted towards all bloggers who post music or the whole sharing process in common. Well it's not that I am posting mainstream music "40 licks" etc. which has sold millions of copies ^& may be even featured on other blogs. Complain to them.

But if you look at what Radiohead did recently by offering a free download of their last album & give what you feel it was worth as a donation. This was very clever marketing coz Radiohead made more money selling their collectors edition double disc than they did from giving it for free as a legal download.

In China, all music is free online, but their global market share of originals bought is 1%. Not bad when you consider that they don't need to buy music ever & considering the size of the country well. That Ian is pretty impressive.t

For your info, Ian, I have over 350 original CD's, 400 VIDEO ORIGINAL CASSETTES, APPROX 250-300 VINYL, 150 MUSIC CASSETTES, AND ABOUT 120-150 DVD'S. - Two of the CD's are actually Stones CD's & one is a Small faces one, with Ithcycoo Park as Track 1 (but i can't remeber the name at the moment).

So Ian thank you for your comments, they are always very welcome, but we are living in a digital age and a digital download paid or free is just a digital download. It is not the same as the original.

I am yours Chuntao

Ian, thanks for letting us know about Ronnie's site, I didn't even know he had one - but I guess everyone has nowadays!

Looking at his online shop, 'Slide It In' isn't available, so I hope people who get it from here and like it will visit http://www.recordstore.co.uk/ronniewood/ and spend some money there. That way, everybody wins.

Hi and thanx.. I think..if that really was The Honorable Mac, I'd like to tell him that I own the album, have lost it, and am happy to find it here. It's impossible to find elsewhere... And to boot I bought 1234 from Amazon. My point being, people who download from this kind of sites are fans, they probably already own shotloads of albums and come here to fill in the holes. So thanx Chuntao, and Cheers to Mac. Hope the reunion is still on the schedule.

Chinaski,

Hallo, it was the real "Mac" I checked my stats, location and everything, had and aerial photograph and all. I tell it was him. He must have had a real bad afternoon that day. And is probably happy deep down that we all appreciate all artists work past & present.

Thanks for your comments also Chinaski they are also appreciated.

A very interesting discussion. I too think there's a big difference between posting out-of-print music and easily buy-able stuff. And digital is just a copy, often very good, but in essence just an improved C-90 casette.
Another thing: I'm at the library right now, and inspired by what I just read I borrowed a book: All The Rage, written by a certain Ian McLagan. If I like it I might buy my own copy.
Bye for now.

Hello again Leo,

Yes it was a very interesting debate. He was quite vociferous and all, but has not visited again to vent his feelings Leo.

As far as that book you mention, he will earn a couple of cents on royalties every time the book is borrowed. And it is very similar to tempting you to buy music or original music.

By the way Leo I got your request & will look into it for you. Ok dude.

Thanks again fo stopping by.

I absolutely recommend "All The Rage", it's a good and fun read and I think the man wrote it himself. Enlightening.
