Beckett - Beckett 1974

This self-titled album from UK Prog Rock band "Beckett" was their only album from 1974. They have a huge following in the South Tyneside area of England. It is worth noting that Iron Maiden covered "A Rainbow's Gold", which is featured on the B-Side of their 'Two Minutes To Midnight" single. And a few members of "Beckett" went on to form the band "Back Street Crawler" with the ex-guitarist of 'Free', Paul Kossoff.

What can I say? Where has this album been all my life? I must have heard this once in my late teens. I can't believe how good it is. This band (Beckett) should have been HUGE!
Thanks again Chuntao, two classic albums in one weekend.

Have a good Xmas.

You are too kind. I'm glad they lived up to your expectations. They rock eh ? Yes it's a shame they never quite hit the top -- undeserved methinks.

At Last, I saw this band live around 1974 doing the warm up for Status Quo at a gig in W'ton and they completely blew me away. I went out next day and bought the album. I still have the album but now it's been played so much its really scratchy, so I was looking for replacement and then I found your site. Thank you so much as this is my all time favourite album.

this is a fantastic site

I bought this in London back in 82 when I was 16. I'd moved to London on my own from Utah when I was 16 and lived there for a few months. I still own the album, butneeded it badly in MP3 format. Thanks!

Dave,

I couldn't agree more. Look after your vinyl mate. You can't beat the original format. Thank for stopping by.

Took me until recently to listen to this, and now it will stay in my portable for a long time. Arrangements, production, vocals, instruments, lyrics, everything adds up to a great lost treasure.

Thanks a lot, Leo.

Just to let you know, I moved from England to Canada 21 years ago and brought with me my entire album collection. I do happen to have this little gem in there and it is in excellent condition, lovely inner sleeve note sheet with lyrics etc. It plays really well and I have in fact converted it to digital so now have a handier version of it. I am going to put it on e-bay soon so if any one is interested, let me know and I will give you the details. Jim

Hi there, just to let you all know that I moved from England to Canada 21 years ago and brought with me my entire album collection. I happen to have a particularly fine copy of this gem!! It plays beautifully, in fact I have just converted it too digital format and am now willing to part with the original album. The sleeve is in great shape, includes the original inner liner notes too! I will be putting it up for auction on e-bay in the next month or so, so if anyone is interested, please let me know and I can give you the details. Jim

Sorry, forgot to add that I love the album and always wondered where the band came from and went to. I am finally digging up info about them. It is a shame that they did not continue as the music is great, takes me right back to my teens, it still sounds fresh listening to it today. Jim

I have this album on Vinyl in mint condition (well my dad does), it is brilliant and how surprised was I to discover it in his collection considering I have the Iron Maiden version of Rainbows Gold on the First Ten Years Compilation (also on vinyl) and loved their cover. Great stuff :)

my dad colin scott (toy dolls) played with kenny, bob and the lads about 3-4 years back and in his words "was privileged to play alongside such great musicians".
played with them for about a year or two after their former drummer passed away.
herd the record several times and rainclouds is just amazing.
